Dental Braces

Linden NJ dentist, Anatoly Bensianoff, speaks about the advantages and disadvantages of conventional dental braces as opposed to alternatives such as Invisalign® and veneers. Dr. Bensianoff discusses the details of Invisalign® treatment and how to change your smile in as little as six months to one year. Dr. Anatoly Bensianoff reviews patient concerns and options for orthodontic treatment.

Linden NJ dentistOf the different orthodontic techniques offered by Magic Smile Dental, many patients prefer Invisalign® Clear Braces. This system is unique in that it doesn’t require any of the traditional equipment associated with metal braces – no wires or brackets. The Invisalign® system implements custom-made clear plastic aligners to move teeth into a new position over time. Here are a few reasons patients love this method:

  • The clear plastic aligners are virtually invisible to the outside observer.
  • Invisalign® patients are able to brush and floss freely, since the aligners are removable.
  • Aligners can also be removed for eating, drinking, or special occasions.
  • The supple plastic material is more comfortable than metal braces that can irritate the soft tissues of the mouth.
  • Treatment time is often shorter – only six to twelve months.

To get started with your Invisalign® treatment plan, Dr. Bensianoff will take impressions of your teeth and mouth. These molds will be used in conjunction with 3D computer-imaging technology to formulate a treatment plan that fits your individual smile. The plastic aligners will be fabricated using the same technology so that each one fits well and moves teeth without causing any discomfort. The plastic aligner is replaced by mail every two weeks and office visits are recommended every six weeks to ensure that treatment is moving along nicely.

Dr. Bensianoff recommends Invisalign® over veneers to change the appearance of slightly crooked teeth, since Invisalign® preserves the structure of healthy teeth. Magic Smile also provides traditional braces for more complicated teeth-straightening cases, such as malocclusion.

Invisalign® for a Picture Perfect Smile

Linden NJ dentistIf you are an adult who has braces, you know the experience can be just as traumatizing as for a youngster.

Since adults generally take more care of their appearance (hence the desire to fix their teeth), the look of metal braces can actually prevent smiling – a social necessity!

That’s why Invisalign® was developed. Not really braces at all, Invisalign is a system using small trays that have been custom-designed to the contours of your mouth to straighten your teeth much like braces do, while remaining invisible and easy to remove.

When you place an Invisalign® aligner in your mouth, it immediately goes to work straightening your teeth…and you feel it. But if you have a presentation, a big date, or even a meal, you can easily remove it and enjoy these activities with your teeth exposed.

How Does the Price of Invisalign Compare?

As far as price goes, a standard orthodontic procedure costs somewhere between $3,000 and $8,500, depending on what you want done and what needs to be done. The costs of Invisalign® vary and are determined by the individual dentists themselves. There are many factors that determine pricing. The general range is around $3000 – $8000. The way to get a price based on your own personal case is to make an appointment with a dentist or orthodontist certified by Invisalign®.

How Long Does it Take?

This of course brings us to the time factor. Many people do not like the thought of braces because they must be worn for several years. The Invisalign® system is so radical that most people only need to use it for six months. However, this short time period may compromise some long-term benefits associated with regular braces.

The choice is up to you. A consultation with your dentist will give you a better idea of whether you are a candidate for Invisalign as well as some price guidelines to help you make this important decision.
